The effects on expats of all ages if UK leaves EU.

  • I welcome here two guest writers and fellow campaigners who have strived so hard to secure voting rights for expats of all ages who live in Europe and beyond.
  • Please read below the possible nightmare that will affect all British expats of all ages, having retired to or who are living and working in Mainland Europe.
  • The feeble efforts and siren voices of the current UK government trying to persuade voters in the UK to vote to stay in the UK will be lost among the hostile 'baying' of the hounds inspired by the obnoxious behaviour of the "One Policy Party - UKIP" and it is down to the baffoons in the Conservative party who have shot themselves and the country in the foot as they try to win tory votes back from UKIP for their own political ends.
  • Isolation of the UK will bring dreadful consequences to the UK itself. We will in the shortest space of time, lose our permanent seat on the United Nations. Our trade with Europe will diminish and we will become the laughing stock of the whole world and with no influence.
  • Trade deals with the USA, China, Japan, India will wither away and we will be left feeling more alone than we even did in 1940.
  • The Human Rights Act which has not always favoured our country in trying to oust foreign criminals or terrorists but nevertheless afforded the British Citizen the first ever written and legal constitution and thereby protection against unscrupulous actions by governments, Local Authorites and large corporate organisations against the man in the street; will dissapear overnight.
  • UK governments will become a  law unto themselves and taxes will rise out of all proportion bringing a mass exodus of people from the UK - If they are indeed permitted to leave.
  • Please read all below and pass this information onto your family members and friends by email forwarding or why. At least get them to sign the petitions.
  • We all love our country and many people who live out of England fought for it. The land and the beaches of many European Countries are scarred with the blood of so many who died in the name of FREEDOM. A vote to leave the EU will Not be a vote for freedom but for captivity on a small group of islands with nobody to help us from loony governments of all political persuasions and having to depend on Russia for oil and gas!

EUROPE - The Looming Crisis

If a referendum were to be held tomorrow would the UK would pull out of the EU?*?* It would leave many of us in the mire.

We live in Europe because EU treaties allow us to do so.  We have no fundamental right to move to France, Spain, Cyprus, Italy etc. This 'freedom of movement' comes from being a citizen of the EU.  That freedom is being criticised in Britain.  If the UK leaves the EU then what?

·  Free Movement.  You would not enjoy the automatic Right to move or live anywhere in the EU.

·  Healthcare! You would lose the right to free or subsidised healthcare.  Anyone with an existing health problem would never be able to afford medical insurance which covered the pre-existing condition.

·  Working Age?  You would no longer have an automatic right to work.  You might have to apply for work permits.

·  State Pension annual increases.  They would no longer be guaranteed.

·  As for the Winter Fuel Payment - we receive the WFP because European Union laws require such 'non-contributory old-age benefits' are paid without discrimination- just as they are to those who live in the UK.  If Britain leaves the EU,  those laws cease to be applicable and then such ‘benefits’ would stop for all the 450,000 pensioners in the EU beyond Britain

Some say the vote and being represented in the British Parliament is not important and in our campaign we should concentrate on fair payment of the WFP   They are 100% wrongIf Britain votes in the Referendum to leave the EU; We would no longer be European Citizens. The Referendum Bill currently going through Parliament specifically excludes most of us living on the continent of Europe from being able to vote in that Referendum. Large numbers of people (est. one million of which 450,000 are pensioners) fundamentally affected by Britain leaving the EU- that’s us- will not have a vote!

What can we do about it --   Start by  "THE TEN POINTS OF ACTION' http://pensionersdebout.blogspot.com/2013/12/ten-points-for-action.html

The next time ---- 'You and Good Government for Britons Abroad' Look out for it!

Thank you for your opinion. However, the UK is far from being oppressed by the EU. We are one of the leaders not followers.

This proposal is in my opinion a clear breach of EU law.
